Hello, friends.

Hello, friends.

Originally from Virginia, Bill discovered an interest in photography at an early age. By thirteen, he was developing film and prints in his own darkroom. He continued as a hobbyist for years before gaining employment as a photo technician, photo editor, and photojournalist.

Bill’s award-winning work has appeared worldwide in print and online for organizations such as the Detroit Free Press, USA Today, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. Bill worked as a photo editor with The Associated Press in Washington, DC when the photo staff was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for team coverage of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.

Moving to the IT side of photojournalism, Bill managed the image and news wire processing systems for The Washington Post newspaper before eventually becoming Manager of Publishing Systems there.

Nowadays, Bill can be found shooting in both analog and digital format, preferring black & white abstract and nature photography, especially leaning toward black and white photography with a strong emphasis on chiaroscuro, the dramatic contrast between light and dark.

“A photographer's life is a redeeming life.”

Sam Abell
